SPECTATOR COMPETITION No. 224 Set by A. M. O. S.

The poems of Burns have recently been 'translated' into English for the benefit of the benighted Sassenach. Competitors are asked to comment on this event in a poem of three stanzas, using any characteristic Burns metre. The verses may be in English or Lowland Scots (not too broad) and need not represent what competitors believe would be Burns's own reaction. Prize, which may be divided: £5.

Entries, addressed 'Spectator Competition No. 224,' 99 Gower Street, London, W.C.1, must be received not later than June 8th. Results in the Spectator of June 18th.
