SlIt.-1 was interested to read the article, Making Ends Meer,

by a Church of England rector. As a Catholic (or perhaps I should say a Roman Catholic, to avoid upsetting some of my Anglican friends I), I find it very hard to understand why the Church of England does not draw the attention of its congregations to the responsibilities which rest with them for supporting their clergymen. It does pot seem reason- able they should expect to depend on ft generosity of past generations. 1 understand that the Sunday collections are utmost invariably taken for the benefit of some, no doubt worthy, but outside body. It would seem that charity should begin at homg. I notice that " Parish Priest" does not seem to suggest this me.thod of Increasing his insufficient income. —Yours faithfully,
