THE

ENGLISH-SPEAKING WORLD.

BY EVELYN WRENCH.

AS April 23rd, the opening day of the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley, draws near, the affairs of that great enterprise occupy an increasing amount of space in the daily Press. We must all acknow- ledge the great work which Sir James Stevenson and his colleagues have performed since the reorganization of the Exhibition Executive last summer, but nevertheless one must admit that the Daily Express has rendered a public service by its vigorous advocacy of the need for greater publicity for the Exhibition abroad and. especially in the United States. As regards Canada, I believe that the editorial writer in the Montreal Star was quite correct when he said that little was known-of the Empire Exhibi- tion in the Dominfon, and that no organized effort has been made to appeal to the 'patriotism of the Canadian people to ensure a lively participation by Canada.
