Changing patterns

From Mrs Sheila Bums Sir: Mr J. R. Bevins writing on 'Changing patterns' (March 15) makes trite predictions and observations which are pale beside the true changing pattern in the Labour Party itself. A pattern which clearly demonstrates danger to all democratic thought.

Mr Bevins weighs the 'trivia' of party politics against the 'trivia' of his own thinking. As a latterday socialist soothsayer his particular crystal ball, where the electorate is concerned, has a rosy tint. Unfortunately his rosy tint is not quite the same as the rosy tint now showing in the Labour Party, not least of all in the Cabinet itself, which is getting rosier and redder day by day.
