The Bootleggers Kenneth Allsop (Hutchinson 45s). This is the fourth

impression of Mr Allsop's racy account of Chicago in its hoodlum heyday —starring such infamous hoods as Capone, Johnny Torrio, Dion O'Banion, the Gennas plus full supporting cast of pimps, killers and mafiosi. A new introduction makes it clear that Chicago is still very much a gangster preserve, though the old-style mobsters have given ground to a smoother breed of operators —which, with the turnover for organised crime in the us reckoned at some $50 billion a year, is not altogether surprising.
