Before we leave the Rumanian situation we must mention the

very hopeful and helpful action which took place on Tuesday, November 28th, in the extreme north of the kingdom—i.e., closer to the Russian frontier. At a point in the "wooded Carpathians " the Russians made an attack and captured some seven or eight- hundred prisoners, six machine guns and a bomb, mortar, and further captured a range of heights which, as far as can be gathered, is of-considerable tactical importance.. It is stated that this is not a piece of accidental warfare, but heralds a Russian offensive on a big scale, and that the Russians are moving downward on a wide front.
