For the record

Sir: Grateful as I am for the huge amount of space given to my review of BennY Green's Wisden Anthology (25 September), one small cut which might have caused, puzzlement was why I should have single', out Zaheer Abbas among all the batsmen ol the past 20 years to stand alongside the giants of the past. This was simply because his record of scoring a double century and 3 century in the same match no less than four times since 1976 has never been remotely equalled. Only one other player has ever performed this very rare feat more than once. Also, when I suggested that Bill Frindall might consider including in his Cricket Records the largest innings totals in which

no player scored a century, nominateu‘, Somerset's 545-9 against Hampshire in 193v (J.C. White was top scorer with 88). Can
