Six,—Surely your correspondent, TIA0E1 151;007., is mixing up two or three distinct texts. Job xxviii. 28 "And unto man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding." Psalm cxii 10: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom ; a good understanding have all they that do His commandments" (Anthorised Version); "do thereafter" (Prayer.book Version). If I am right, all the subtlety of the letter is misplaced. Looking to Proverbs a. 10 I find "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.' In all three cases the translators have written "and," so they evidently found no antithesis.—I am, Sir, dtc.,
