ADMIRAL BEATTY'S SIGNAL.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."]

does not appear to have been noticed that Admiral Beatty's signal to the Fleet, after the surrender of the German ships, in which he states his intention to return thanks to Almighty God for the glorious victory, is identically the same signal as Nelson made to his Fleet after the Battle of the Nile one hundred and twenty years ago.—I am, Sir, &c.,

[Nelson's signal on August 2nd, 1798, ran :—" Almighty God having blessed His Majesty's arms with victory, the Admiral intends returning public thanksgiving for the same at two o'clock this day; and he recommends every ship doing the same as soon as convenient."—ED. Spectator.]
