Colleagues fall out

Sir: I was disappointed and disturbed to read of Taki's lack of compassion for the Greek PM, Ali Babandreou, being inconti- nent and obliged to wear Pampers at all times (High life, 16 September). I myself was incontinent for five days after my leg was amputated and the embarrassment, worse still humiliation, was almost unbearable. Had not the nurses regarded it as a usual conse- quence of operative trauma and carried on as usual I would have felt almost suicidal.

Maybe news of that five days of horror leaked from the Middlesex Hospital and could be why Taki no longer returns my telephone calls. Rather shitty of him, don't you think?
