Some weeks ago (on June 12th) we noticed at length

a volume entitled J'Accuse, by a German. This work has now been translated into English by Mr. Alexander Gray (Hodder and Stoughton, 5s. net), and we may once more strongly recommend it to our readers. The preface informs us, on the authority of Dr. Anton Suter of Lausanne, that the author is "a German patriot." He adds : "I regard this work as an act which can only confer a blessing on the German people and on humanity, and I accordingly assume responsibility for its publication." We will only repeat what we said before : that it is a valiant and very powerful attempt made by a German to pierce the black, solid walls of misrepresentation behind which his countrymen are sitting in the dark.
