We welcome the appearance of Beacon, a magazine devoted to

the interests of the blind (National Institute for the Blind, Great Portland Street). The paper, we understand, is not to be run as a commercial venture, but solely with a view to bringing home " to all who possess the blessed gift of sight how grave the need of the sightless is." The first number contains, among other items, an interesting and practical article on " Constructive Philanthropy," by Mr. Ben Purse, and another on " Yesterday and To-Day at St. Dunstan's," by Miss Joan Kennedy. Two useful features of the magazine are the " Braille Book Chat " and the Institute Employment Bureau.
