• The Daily Mail of Wednesday published a long article

by Lord Rothermere ordering the GovernMent to return to Conservatism. He says that their measures have been indistinguishable from those of Socialists. He recommends a retreat all along the line. Worse advice has seldom been given. Mr. Baldwin to his eternal credit is trying, although he is continually being stabbed in the back by professing . friends, to carry out what may be called a national policy. He is trying to make class warfare unnecessary by depriving it of all reasonable causes for existence. No other policy but this humane and broadminded one has the least chance of permanent success. If it is not carried out wisely by the Unionist Party it will be attempted some day dangerously, and perhaps to the permanent injury of the nation, by Socialists.
