Mr Gim- son's frustration about finding affordable housing in London, and while I happen to re with him that some speculative found his seem to have emerged in the capital, I rend his petty little anti-capitalism most ofinkiting- A well-educated representative the middle class, a 'man of simple tastes' c:11, e assures us, returns to London and t find a nice house on Hampstead 0A-lbvath that he can afford. Gee, capitalism his Whining socks. Even more troubling than in about the free market not giv- 5 'ion a fair deal are his subtle hints that the winners of global capitalism appear to be mainly foreigners, like his Hong Kong- based landlady or those 'foreign bankers' he so despises. It is obviously OK for intel- lectuals to be xenophobic as long as the for- eigners are rich.
