The Divine Discipline of Israel, by C. Buchanan Gray, M.

A. (A.. and C. Black), is a contribution to the great subject of "Pro- gressive Revelation." It consists of a paper and three lectures, the first read before the Congregational Union, the latter delivered to the Friends' Summer School of Theology. We recognise to the full the value of such teaching as Mr. Gray's. Some writers would explain away all that is distinctive in Hebrew history; others insist on putting this history outside the course of human events, and so making it impossible and in- credible. We look to such utterances as these to keep the Christian Church from such extremes.
