Poetry

William Blake : an Introduction Anne Mal- colmson (Constable Young Books 21s). Not all of Blake's poetry speaks directly to the young; here, notes illuminate the symbolic com- plexities. Blake the man emerges from an en- lightened introduction, from a skilful selection of his poems and from the poet's paintings and engravings which decorate this fine volume.

Running to Paradise: Poems by W. B. Yeats selected by Kevin Crossley-Holland (Mac- millan 18s). The editor's sensitive yet business- like preface is an indication that this 'introduc- tory selection' is for young adults. The poems chosen bear this out.
