The riots at Ostend have been continued during the week.

On Wednesday, volleys of stones were thrown at an English ship in the harbour, and the attack became so serious, that the vessel had to proceed to sea. A quantity of fish was, however, shipped from Dover to Ostend on Wednesday—this being the first consignment since the rioting—it having been intimated that no further violence would take place. As yet the reports do not say whether or not this forecast of peace was realised. The whole incident has been very unpleasant, as showing to what extreme lengths trade jealousies will lead men who are otherwise orderly citizens.
