In his Presidential address to the British Association at Leeds

on Wednesday Sir Arthur Keith reviewed the origin of man and affirmed that Darwinism was beyond question the true solution of the mystery. The outlines of Darwin's theory were unshaken and never could be shaken. Modern research gave the human species the respectable antiquity of about 1,000,000 years. But how many details remained to be discovered ! Science had not yet discovered evidence of the human " imago " emerging from its anthropoid encasement. There was still a missing link. Evolution was by variation, but as to the how and why of the variation—well, as Sir Arthur exclaimed : " There is so much we do not yet understand ! "
