SIR,—Pharos and your readers may like to know of the

German Welfare Council, a voluntary organisation set up to help and advise Germans living in this country. We

should have been glad to advise the German girl mentioned, particularly as it is not at all clear what sort of an agreement she had with the family in question. From the details given it seems unlikely that she had either an au pair visa or a proper labour permit.
