On Thursday morning the miners' delegates met and decided to

give notice of a strike from September 25th. But the " Triple Alliance," which had met again on Wed- nesday, carefully abstained from promising its active support to Mr. Smillie, merely deciding to wait and see what the miners' executive decided to do. It is thought that the Trades Union Congress, which assembles next week, will be invited to make a pronouncement on the matter.
