[To THY EDITOR or THE " SPECTATOR:1 SIR,—Your article on " Our Oriental Empire " in the Spectator impels me to put to you, and through you to the doctrinaires, Plato's well-known question : " How can the State handle philosophy so as not to be ruined? " One might add " or ruin others." This question nowadays has a wide application.—
