Mr. Canby is known as a very able editor on

the other side of the Atlantic as well as a writer of terse and brilliant English. In Better Writing (Cape, 3s. 6d.) he has made a really useful contribution to the already voluminous literature on style. After Sir A. Quiller-Couch, Mr. Canby probably has no rival : this is a book which should not be neglected by anyone intending to find expression in print.
