SIR,—Please accept my thanks for the opportunity of reading Dr.

Leavis's lecture on C. P. Snow in its entirety. The points raised by Dr. Leavis deserve the consideration of everyone who respects the com- plexity of truth and is honestly 'concerned with the problems of our civilisation. We should be grater ful for Dr. Leavis's important criticism of what C. P. Snow stands for, rather than cavil over evalua- tions of Snow as novelist or Leavis as literary, ,critic.
