A GOOD EXAMPLE FROM SWITZERLAND.

STR,—The following fact deserves, I think, to be made known to your readers, many of whom I know sympathize with the efforts that all self-respecting Swiss citizens are making to compel their Government to see that the laws of the Republia are observed. One of these laws forbids every kind of gambling establishment on Swiss territory. But in spite of this law the authorities wink at the existence of more than one such establishment on the Swiss shores of the Lake of Geneva. Howeve, the little commune of Pally, near Lausanne, set a good example the other day in rejecting an offer of 20.000 francs per annum for the site of a Casi-no; 20,000 francs would have meant much to this relatively poor commune in
