JULIETTE'S WEEKLY FROLIC

Poor Titus Oates trekked all the way from Penrith to Kempton for a rotten Saturday afternoon's sport. I, on the other hand, had only to come from London and had a splen- did time. The sun shone, the gin flowed and the two runners behaved impeccably, allow- ing me to clamber back onto the right side of £100 with a grand total of £104.3711 Hoping for a repeat performance in New- bury's Mandarin Chase, I shall disregard the Pantheon and Chaou II, never having been a great fan of either and prefer Foxtor and The Otter. Both recent 'National Trial' win- ners, Foxtor followed this by running Kin- loch Brae to half-a-length at Wincanton last week and could win here. With two gener-

ously-sponsored races, Haydock Park shares star-billing with the Berkshire course. The more valuable Victor Ludorum Hurdle fields the top northern four year olds, Quagmire and Neeak, but I am more attracted to Lord Henry and Goldfella—both good winners before being hampered in their latest efforts. The last named receives 51b and missed Kempton's 'KR' to run here, so I shall side with him. Two Springs is likely to be hot favourite for the Greenall Whitley National Trial half-an-hour earlier, but supposing he will not be given too hard a race at this stage, I take Kippie Lodge, twice a good winner before jumping unsteadily in his last race to beat the National Favourite.

Outlay: £2 to win Foxtor, £2 ew Goldfella and Kipple Lodge.

tqa: Informed sources tell me that Bay Tudor is the one to be on at Ludlow this Thursday, but I shall reserve judgment.
