Peter Saunders

Peter Saunders Limited is the name of a direct mail company based at Malrnesbury in Wiltshire selling tweeds and twin sets to young suburban matrons. Their sales are being hit to the extent of £20,000 each week by the continuation of the postal strike. Mr Peter Saunders, the head of the firm, made an impassioned case on television recently for the ending of the postal strike Ap- parently they spend £25,000 per annum at the local post office, which has been specially enlarged to handle parcels, and he argued that if they were pushed under it would be no gain to the post office or their workers. Peter Saunders, who speaks almost ac- centless English, came with his brother Ceorge from Austria as refugees during the 'thirties. His business deserves to and surely will prosper. I wish it every support from its bankers and customers.
