A GRAND VICTUALLER TO THE NATION.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."]

Sio,—Your first article under the above heading seemed so un- answerable that it seemed impossible but that it should be acted upon. And now your second article appears the case is over- whelming. The nation will gratefully back you up in the present struggle for it. To workers among the poor the cry is continu- ally : " Why did wo not know this a year ago and prepare? " Any social workers would agree that the people would accept any regulations—Prohibition and State regulation of food to win the war, -and feed the nation.—I am, Sir, &c., F. M. SIMMONS. [Alas: the nation is powerless, and the Government, if it comes to a struggle, will do, not what we or our supporters want, but what the Trade bids them to do.—En. Spectator.]
