THE AGRICULTURAL WAGE.

[To THE Emma OF THE " SPECTATOR."] SIR,—IL is difficult to know in these days of swift change whether changes are to be made by Proclamation or Act of Parliament, but if the minimum wage for agricultural labourers is to be fixed by Parliament, do let it be a cash minimum, and let privileges come in as extras. If not, there will be endless wrangling and friction between employers and employed, and the peace of the countryside will be greatly disturbed. Give " privileges " by all means, but do not let them be considered in calculating the minimum amount of cash that shall pass on Saturday night.—
