The most distant of the elections—that of Orkney and Shetland—ter- minated on Saturday last in the return of Mr. Dundas ; who has beaten the Earl of Derby's Lord-Advocate, Mr. Inglis, by a majority of 33. The numbers were—Dundas, 227 ; Inglis, 194.

It is said that of 1500 weavers at present unemployed in Paisley, 1200 are desirous of emigrating—representing at least 6000 individuals. Ar- rangements have been made to give free passages to 200 adults. The weavers in other parts of the country are also in distressed circumstances, and many:of them are making application to be taken to Australia.
