A Johannine Document in St. Luke's. By A. R. Wilkinson,

M.A. (Luzac and Co. 2s.)—Mr. Wilkinson argues that there are proofs of a lack of coherence in the narrative which describes the events previous to the birth of the Baptist and of Christ. These proofs we cannot attempt to abridge. There is, we see, a possible force in them ; yet we doubt whether any book could stand against dis- integrating criticism of this kind. The upshot is that a writer of the Johannine cast of theology wrote an account of the Baptist and of Christ in which the inferiority of the former is brought into strong relief.
