History of Sepulchral Cross - Slabs. By K. E. Styan. (Bemrose and

Sons. 7s. 6d. net.)—Mr. Styan writes a brief introduction giving the history of the cross-slab as used to mark the site of a grave— the use in this kingdom seems to date from the eighth century, though most of the specimens known date from the thirteenth century onward. This introduction is followed by a description of sixty-four slabs, all of them subsequently figured.
