Mr. Thorns would have said of Ann Telford (her maiden name being Ann Charters), the old lady who died at Maryport on Tuesday night, aged 111 years P She was born in 1780, nine years before the taking of the Bastille, at Torpenhow, in Cumber- land, and was married in 1809, the year of Mr. Gladstone's birth, and we are told that the parish registers give perfectly explicit evidence as to her age. Her eldest son, who was born in 1810, died two years before her. Mrs. Telford's faculties were said to be perfectly clear to the last.
