DR. MASON NEALE. [To THE EDITOR or THE "SPECTATOR. "] Sui,—The

reviewer of " The Letters of John Mason Neale " is your last issue has surely spoken hastily in attributing to the famous Warden of Sackville College a tendency towards Romanisnt. Dr. Neale declared on one occasion that if ever he was forced to leave the Church of England, he would become a member either of the Scottish Episcopal Church, or join the Greek Orthodox Church. He was far too profound an historian to acknowledge the claims of Rome. In justice to his memory I trust you will insert this letter.—I am, Sir, &c., RICHARD F. JUTE.. Lathland House, West Hartlepool.
