Fan letter

Sir: Your editorial of November 24 was the most brilliant political commentary I have ever read. But how the hell can we make Heath, Walker and company take any notice? I'm just a little nobody but I would be willing to make a monetary contribution if you felt it would be worthwhile taking space in the national press. Hopefully, there are many other people with the same feeling.

In a lighter vein may I give grateful thanks to Nicholas Davenport and Skinflint for as a result of their warnings I sold all my shares eighteen months ago against bankers' advice. Nephew Wilde should take his own advice, flog the lot and re-invest in short dated gilts. This would leave more space for Skinflint.

Now that you've got your Puzzle back could you not also persuade Dennis Hackett and Auberon Waugh to return?

I think it is a good idea having a revolving contributor for the Notebook but whatever you are paying Beverley Nichols is too much.

Lastly perhaps Mr Skeffington Lodge would resume writing his long rambling letters which I always found entertaining.
