It is with no little satisfaction that we record the

fact that Mr. J. P. FitzPatrick has received the honour of knighthood, which was gazetted on Saturday last. Sir Percy FitzPatrick, as one of the leaders of the Reform party in the days when it was by no means safe or pleasant to be a reformer in Johannesburg, showed great courage and fortitude, and by his book, "The Transvaal front Within," be enlightened public opinion here in regard to the Anti-British aims and aspira- tions of the Boers. Though Sir Percy FitzPatrick has never "hedged" on public questions, but instead has always hit out from the shoulder, he has few enemies and many friends. He has an unquestionable right to be a Knight of the Empire.
