Parliament, learned societies, academies, Government officials, hospitals (with their staffs), magazines and newspapers (with their editors)—the ignotum has disappeared, and with it something of the magnificum—railways, race-meetings, steamships, and other things which it is useful to know about, are dealt with in this volume.
