Been considerable. It would, however, be misleading to give the numbers or the tonnage without going into details and giving the dates &lee. We will only say the situation created is grave. Apparently these losses do not suggest to Lord Devonport or the Govern- meat that a conservation of food of the very strictest kind is worth undertaking, or that it is dangerous to go on turning into beer what may in a few weeks be demanded as the prime necessary of life.
