READABLE NovEr.s.:L.8enjy. By George Stevenson. (John Lane. 7s. net.)—There is

a touch reminiscent of Charlotte M. Yonge in Mr. Stevenson's latest work, which is the biography of the very large family of a country doctor. Though the reader may become rather bewildered in trying to follow each particular thread, the book is illuminated with many of the author's quiet touches of humour and is written with his usual distinction of style.—The End of a Dream. By A. AL N. Jenkin. (Same publisher and price.)—A detailed study of the effects of the mysterious disease currently known as "shell shock." The last scene is terrible in its realism. The book should certainly be kept out of the hands of sufferers from the milder forms of this affection.
