8m,—May I be allowed to contribute a very small sum towards sending the Spectator to the base hospitals in France ? I enclose a cheque for one guinea. Your paper is indeed the sanest one reads nowadays, and is an unutterable comfort to many. I may say that I owe my education to life—and the Spectator, which has been almost as a Bible to me since I was a girl of fifteen in South Africa.—I am still faithfully yours,
