We are happy to see from the Gazette of last

night that the Queen has given orders for the appointment of Lieutenant-General Sir James Hope Grant, K.C.B., Commanding her Majesty's Military Forces in China, to beKnight Grand. Cross of the Order of the'Bath.

Her Majesty has also given orders for the appointment of Vice-Ad- miral James Hope. C.B., Commander-in-Chief of her Majesty's Naval Forces in the East Indies and China, to be a Knight-Commander of the Order.
