The beautiful Rotunda of Louisberg, at Aix-la-Chapelle, was to- tally
destroyed by fire in the night of the 27th ult. There had been a ball in the evening; but the company had retired, the lights were put out, and the proprietor and his servants had all gone to rest. They were, however, soon roused by cries of " Fire !" which, it appears, broke out in one of the rooms of the dwellinghouse; and in less than two hours the roof fell in, and the whole was reduced to ashes.
A horrible duel took place a few days ago, at Alais, in the Gard, between two brothers, arising out of rivalry in their profession. One brother fell by the hand of the other !—Gatignani.
