How long is a piece of string, and why ?
I ask for informa- tion, not being able myself to supply the answer. The ques- tion, I am assured, by one who had to cope with it, has just been put in an examination for candidates for prison warder- ships. If may, of course, have been a species of intelligence test. Capacity to deal with such a problem would no doubt argue ability to face most crises in life successfully.
