Sir: Steve Jones remarks that the 'wars of religion were
sparked off in part by the vexed question as to whether Christ was entirely divine or partly human'; adding that the issue no longer bothers the Church of England (Diary, 27 August).
Anglicans who are orthodox believe like other Christians that Christ was wholly divine and wholly human, and so have never been bothered with the choice as Professor Jones presents it.
