The letters from Italy represent the troops of the Holy
Father, subsequent to the affair at Cesena, as having been guilty of every form of outrage and crime, on their occupation of Forli and the other towns in the neighbourhood, which were abandoned by the insurgents. After murdering and plundering the inhabitants of the towns, the troops are said to have dispersed themselves over the surrounding villages and hamlets, where the same scenes were repeated.
