On Sunday M. Taine, the eminent critic and historian, died
of diabetes and pulmonary phthisis, from which he had been suffering for a year past. A fortnight ago, on the advice of M. Pasteur, recourse was had to a Brown-Sequard injection ; but on Sunday M. Taine had a relapse, and, in spite of a second injection, died while taking a cup of coffee.
