Polish Pope

Sir: I have just seen your 28 October issue with my article headed 'The Papacy restored' which includes a typographical error of some substance. Jam printed as saying: 'A Pope more than most people sees a strong papacy as right and proper.' What I actually said was: 'A Pole more than most people', etc. In the circumstances, you might think the distinction academic as the Pope is a Pole. But it is not academic, as the article sought to show, when a Pole is the Pope.
