Advic,es have been received in London Way, by mail of
the 22d August, from Rio de Janeiro. They inform us that General Rosas had rejected the ultimatum of the Allied Powers, and that General Oribe had refused to retire from Monte Video. The English and French naval forces had accordingly taken possession of the Argentine squadron off Monte Video, had landed 1,500 sailors and marines, and had blockaded the port of Buceo. There would be established, in fact, a vigorous blockade of all the ports of the Oriental Republic which were or might be occupied by troops in the service of the Argentine Government.
