The weather keeps fine, having been so generally since the

marked change which occurred on Saturday. The most striking interruption was a violent thunder-storm on Wednesday, which visited a wide extent of country in the central part of England : hailstones fell as big as marbles or walnuts ; there was a very general breakage of glass windows ; and at a village in Norfolk two young men were drowned—how, does not ap- pear. Still the crops have benefited by the sunshine, and are described to have made a sudden change to the deep golden hue of maturity. The accounts from France represent the crops to be in a very fine state, and report that in the Southern departments the farmers are busily en- gaged in reaping the produce of their labour. In Belgium, Holland, and Germany, the harvest promises to be abundant. The corn-market feels the effect, and is reported " dull."
