in the British Commonwealth? This is a problem which is for ever worrying the autonomists in Canada, South Africa, and elsewhere. Since the War it has been clearly laid down that there must be equality of status among the self-governing nations of the British Commonwealth. This doctrine of equality was defined by the Imperial Conference of 1917. Certainly in Great Britain there is no desire to- whittle away anything from the statiis which has been accorded to Canada and the other Dominions. The British Commonwealth is a group of sister States Ind& one Sovereign.
