now, a friendly word may be said for the little text-book on Business Economics that Mr. Thomas'Beach and Mr. Douglas H. Smith have written (Routledge, 3s. 6d.). The authors preside over two of the London County Council's Commercial Institutes, and know that the average man's ignorance of economies is profound.. Their exposition of the elementary problems of capital an labour, the money market and international trade, and so forth, is commendably simple—sometimes,- perhaps, too simple—and should help their readers to understand the
